performance work
Beats
Beats was a dancefilm collaboration with drummer Brad Webb and Photographer/Cinematographer Josh Brasted. Brad and I created a story arc together and improvised within that score. This project features me as a solo performer wearing a costume I designed and created.
Newton’s Cradle
Newton’s Cradle began as choreography that I performed live alongside a video on an iPad. Audience members were also presented with a link to the video that they were encouraged to play and pause as they liked during the performance. This piece later evolved into a fully digital version which features seven videos of the same choreography from different perspectives. Each video can be started and stopped or looped indefinitely for a unique experience curated by the viewer.
I’m Thoreau Waiting
I’m Thoreau Waiting premiered during the Space Station Residency in St Louis in August 2023. It featured seven dancers, sound by Kerrith Livengood, and…a small table. It was one of the fastest creative processes I’ve ever engaged in, but the result was something incredibly special. Here’s a post I made after we closed on the show regarding some of the topics discussed with audience members after the performance.
Walking Alone
Walking Alone was a collaboration with Miles Hancock who wrote a beautiful song for which I simply had to create choreography. The costume is a backless leotard connected to 24’ of stretch mesh fabric which became as much of an inspiration for movement as the original song.
